Jan 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) urged the people to gather at Hyde Park grounds tomorrow to pressure the government for another price reduction in fuel.
Tissa Attanayake, General Secretary of the party said that this is the most valuable moment to reduce the fuel prices again as the forces are reaching the end of the battles in North.
According to the UNP the people of the country have awaited for this moment keeping their belts tightened and mouths shut.
"Now the time has arrived and the people should gather for their demands,” Attanayake said.
The main opposition has decided to stage this protest campaign with the theme ‘enough is enough’ tomorrow evening at Hyde Park grounds in Town Hall.
They have organized an awareness program yesterday near the Fort Railway Station to inform the people on this issue.
Opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has come under heavy criticism by the government for belittling the military victory the troops achieved by capturing the rebel bastion Kilinochchi.
Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma yesterday urged the opposition leader not to belittle the historic victory of the heroic soldiers at a time when the entire country celebrated their achievement.
