Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 15:28 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 06, Colombo: One time area leader of the LTTE and the founder of the Thamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP) party, parliamentarian Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman says Velupillai Prabhakaran cannot win this struggle in the North in any manner.

Speaking at the parliament this morning MP Muralitharan said the LTTE leader is now running everywhere as they have lost strength to face the heavy attacks of government forces.

"The main reasons for the collapse are Prabhakaran’s weakened war strength and the right path taken by the President and the three armed forces commanders in the war," he said.

MP Muralitharan said the LTTE leader has begun fleeing from Mawilaru in Trincomalee and now he has to hide in Mullaitivu.

He added that less than 1,500 LTTE cadres are now in the rebel organization.

According to the sources LTTE leader has tried to recruit 5000 new cadres, but he managed to recruit only 150 members in the past few months, MP Muralitharan said.
