Jan 05, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Postal Department is to begin delivering polling cards for the upcoming North Western and Central Provincial Council elections on 26th of this month.
According to the Postal Department a special mail service will be started for the delivery. The Department hopes to conclude the delivery on February 6th. The polls are to be held on February 14th.
Election Secretariat said the polling cards will be printed by computers, a first in the Sri Lankan polls history.
According to the Election Secretariat there are 1,746,449 registered voters in Central Province and 1,661,733 North Western Province.
The preferential numbers for the candidates have been delivered this morning and reportedly the personal publicity campaigns for the election are to start within the next few days.
However the two main political parties urged their respective candidates to avoid the personal publicity campaigns to prevent clashes between members of the same party.
