* Sinhala announcer for LTTE radio arrested in northwestern Sri Lanka

Jan 04, Puttalam: Police have arrested a woman suspected to be the Sinhala announcer for Voice of Tigers (VoT), the LTTE's broadcasting service, in Puttalam town last night.

Police spokesperson SSP Ranjith Gunasekara confirmed that the woman, called Priyadarshini by the LTTE, is now in police custody.

According to SSP Gunasekara, she had arrived at Puttalam on December 30 after fleeing Kilinochchi on December 27 before the security forces reached the city.

Police have found in her possession a letter of residence which was issued by a Grama Seva Officer.

Further questioning is now underway, Gunasekara said.
