Jan 31, Colombo: Sri Lankan troops yesterday found a fully air-conditioned, two storey underground bunker believed to be a hideout of the LTTE leader in the Visuamadu jungle.
According to military sources, the bunker was fully air conditioned and fitted with a lift, revolving bed, steel framed and bullet proof doors and windows, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom complete with all required fittings and accessories.
Three sound proof power generators have supplied electricity to the bunker.
The asbestos roof was completely covered by coconut thatches, sources said.
The military says the hideout with its luxury interior is a site frequented by the LTTE chief and his senior cadres.
Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets raided the hideout in September last year on information received from ground intelligence sources and air surveillance.
