Jan 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka police today detained the main opposition United National Party Puttalam District parliamentarian Palitha Ranga Bandara's official vehicle after 16 rounds of ammunition were found in the vehicle, police said.

Police spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Ranjith Gunasekara said the police seized the MP's jeep at a check point in Puttalam last night and arrested the driver.

When the jeep was detained MP Bandara was not in the vehicle, Puttalam police said.
