Jan 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today lodged a petition at the Supreme Court challenging the arrest of their party members who were putting up posters on media suppression.
The JVP has named the Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General, and Officer-In-Charge of the Dematagoda police as the respondents of the petition.
The two party members were arrested by the Dematagoda police on January12th when they were engaged in pasting posters against the media suppression.
In this petition the JVP says the police violated the fundamental rights of their party members.
