Jan 25, Colombo: As a result of recent attacks on the media more Sri Lankan journalists have begun to leave the country for the safety of their lives.
During the last week another four senior journalists including some union leaders in media have fled, sources confirmed.
Sunanda Deshapriya and Uwindu Kurukulasuriya of the Free Media Movement and Poddala Jayantha and Sanath Balasooriya of the Lake House were the journalists who fled during the last week.
Reportedly Upul Joseph Fernando and Rathnapala Gamage of Lankadeepa and Chevan Daniel of MTV has already left the country.
Daniel was sought by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for a comment he made to a foreign news agency regarding the attack on the MTB complex.
In addition Iqbal Athas, Keith Noyahr, Namal Perera and Anuruddha Lokuhappuarachchi had reportedly left the country.
