* Japanese envoy calls on Sri Lanka President

Jan 23, Colombo: Yasushi Akashi, Representative of the Government of Japan for Peace Building, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sri Lanka, currently on an official visit to the country met with President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning at the Temple Trees.

The peace envoy held discussions with the President on a process towards a political solution to the ethnic conflict in the country. Ministers Rohitha Bogollagama, Mahinda Samarasinghe, Tissa Vitharana, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and Foreign Secretary Dr. Palitha Kohona were also present.
