Jan 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Army Commander Lt. General Sarath Fonseka has promised to defeat terrorism in the country completely within the next few months.

Speaking at a special function in Colombo this evening to announce the military success in Kilinochchi, the Army Commander said there are only two kilometers to Elephant Pass and five kilometers to Mullaitivu.

According to the Army Commander, over 1500 LTTE cadres have been killed during the past two months in northern battles. He says there are small numbers of LTTE cadres in Wanni and the security forces could finish this battle in the near future.

The Army Commander commented that the forces have taken only two years to completely wipe out the LTTE from the country as they started this battle in 2006 in the Eastern Province.
