Jan 01, Colombo: As a result of the reduction in diesel price National Transport Commission (NTC) in Sri Lanka has decided to reduce the bus fares with effect from January 06.
The NTC confirmed that the bus fares will be reduced by 4.3% within the range of Rs. one and Rs. ten.
The minimum bus fares of Rs. six and Rs. nine will not be changed and the reduction will come into effect for fares above Rs. 12.
This will be the second reduction in bus fares within a two-month period as the government has earlier reduced diesel prices in the budget proposals in last November.
Sri Lanka government has reduced the price of a diesel liter by Rs. 10 with effect from last Tuesday midnight as a New Year gift for the people.
