* New number to call in to give information on suspicious activities

Jan 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka government has established a new hotline number effective from this morning for the public to provide information on suspicious activities.

Defence Ministry said people in the Colombo town and its suburbs could inform on any suspected terrorist activities by dialing 114 on any network.

According to the Ministry the calls are not charged. All such information is treated with strict confidentiality, the Ministry said.

The government established this number in addition to the emergency numbers 118 and 119.
