Jan 14, Colombo: Sri Lanka government has appointed 48 new doctors to the hospitals in Northern and Eastern provinces, including some in the recently liberated areas.
Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry said that these doctors are to assume duties at the respective hospitals with effect from this week.
According to the Ministry this was the first step of upgrading the free health service in liberated areas in the North and East.
The Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva has assured to provide sufficient security to the doctors, the Ministry added.
Minister De Silva also provided medical equipment worth over Rs. 80 million to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital to ensure a quality service to soldiers.
