Jan 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka Election Secretariat has received nearly 75,000 postal vote applications from the government sector for the upcoming provincial council election of in North Western and Central provinces.

According to the Election Secretariat the highest number of applications was received from the Kurunegala District with the total number of 33,556 applications.

Castings of the postal votes for the provincial council election are to be held on February 2nd and 3rd. Election Secretariat sources confirmed that the initial steps for the casting of the postal votes are being prepared the moment.

The election for the North Western and Central provinces is scheduled to be held on 14th of February.
