Jan 01, Colombo: Commencing the election campaigns for upcoming provincial council polls in North Western and Central provinces the two main political parties in the country say each will win the election.
Speaking at a special press briefing held in Colombo this morning ruling party United Peoples’ Freedom Alliance (UPFA) election organizer minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that they could win the polls with a clear majority in both provinces.
According to the Minister the theme of the ruling party for this election is "Protect The Battle Which Protects The Country."
Representing the Democratic faction of United National Party at this press briefing Minister Rajitha Senarathna pointed out that they have already won this election at the moment and need only to announce the result on election day.
Country’s main opposition United National Party (UNP) has commenced their polls campaign at Kurunegala this morning.
The UNP parliamentarian Palitha Range Bandara, who leads the election campaign in North Western Province, said that they will win the polls as the government has misled the country in all fields.
The election is schedule to be held on 14th of February.
