Feb 28, Batticaloa: Following a suicide incident of a female student, the Arts Faculty of the Eastern University in Sri Lanka was closed sine die, says Vice Chancellor Prof. N. Padmanadan.

The University officials have decided to close the Faculty due to a tense situation occurred at the Arts Faculty following the suicide incident, he added.

A female student identified as Nirupa Balasingham has committed suicide two days ago as she was unable to visit her parents who are trapped in rebel held area of Mullaitivu.
