* Strike at Sri Lanka's Cancer Hospital called off

Feb 28, Maharagama: The strike started by the entire staff of Sri Lanka's only oncology institution, Cancer hospital in Maharagama, has been called off this afternoon.

Dr. Upul Gunasekara, the Assistant Secretary of the powerful union, Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) said the strike was called off as the police arrested the attackers who assaulted a doctor and two other minor workers last night.

Following the arrest the staff of the Cancer Hospital called a special meeting and decided to call off the strike.

According to the GMOA an identified gang has attacked a female doctor and two other staff members at the hospital premises ast Thursday night.

Demanding to arrest the suspects involved in the attack immediately entire staff in the hospital went on strike from yesterday morning.
