Sri Lanka main opposition appoints a committee for WPC poll campaign

Feb 26, Colombo: Sri Lanka main opposition, the United National Party (UNP) has appointed a seven-member committee to carry out their campaign for the Western Provincial Council election on April 25th.
General Secretary of the UNP, Tissa Attanayake said that they appointed the committee during a special polite bureau meeting held last night under the patronage of party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe.
The seven-member committee will function under the leadership of UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya, Attanayake said.
Tissa Attanayake, S.B Dissanayake, Ravi Karunanayaka, Sajith Premadasa, Laxman Kiriella and Imthias Bakeer Makar are the other members of the committee.
The main activity of the committee is to make plans to direct the UNP to a poll victory in the Western Province.
Meanwhile Sri Lanka's ruling party, United People's Freedom Alliance also appointed a ten-member committee led by the Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka yesterday to carry out their election campaign in WPC.
