Feb 18, Colombo: Sri Lanka government today reiterated its stance of no ceasefires with the LTTE rejecting the fresh calls for a truce while the security forces are on the edge of defeating the terrorism.
Responding to the appeal made by the Tamil National Alliance to go for a ceasefire with the LTTE, Defence spokesman minister Keheliya Rambukwella at a press briefing held in Colombo this morning said the government has taken a policy decision to completely root out terrorism.
He described the demand for a ceasefire with the LTTE as "laughable."
"There will be no ceasefire with the LTTE, Defence spokesman stressed.
The LTTE ignored a government call to allow the civilians safe passage out of the rebel held areas during a 48-hour ceasefire period declared by the government on January 29th.
