Feb 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka Election Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake has extended the application deadline for postal votes in the upcoming Western Provincial council election.
Accepting of applications for postal votes had to be ended yesterday, but the Commissioner has decided to extend it until February 26th.
The main reason for this decision was appeals made by the government servants who wish to cast postal votes in the election, the Secretariat said.
The nominations for the Western PC election will be accepted from 19th to 26th of this month.
The election date is to be announced by the Commissioner after the completion of nominations.
