Feb 01 Colombo: Security in Sri Lanka capital Colombo has been tightened as the nation is preparing to celebrate its 61st Independence Day and showcase the 'Dayata Kirula' exhibition.
The Independence Day celebrations are to be held at the Galle Face Green under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa on 4th of February.
The rehearsals are currently underway at the Galle Face Green and a special traffic system has also been introduced by the police closing few main roads in the capital Colombo.
Meanwhile 'Dayata Kirula' exhibition, organized for the third time to coincide with the Independence Day, is scheduled to be held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo from 04th through 08th February.
According to the Ministry of Finance the theme for this year's exhibition is 'Eka Mawakage Daru Kela' (children of one mother).
State, private, and international sectors are manning over 1,000 stalls at the exhibition.
On the opening day the exhibition will be open to the public from 6:00 p.m. to midnight while on the other four days it will be open from 9:00 a.m. till midnight.
