* Another group of fleeing civilians reached to safety

Feb 01, Vavuniya: A total of 116 civilians including 48 children in several different groups safely reached the government controlled areas this evening, the military said.

According to the sources there were 31 women among the civilians who reached Vavuniya from the rebel held areas in Mullaitivu and its suburbs.

The security forces have directed them to the welfare centers in Vavuniya following the preliminary inquiries.

Meanwhile Human Rights and Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said that the government has taken all the measures to grant essential facilities to the fleeing civilians.

According to the Minister the government has identified a 900-acre land to establish a new welfare center in Vavuniya.
