GCE O/L results of 500 Sri Lankan students withheld for cheating

Apr 05, Colombo: The Examination Department of Sri Lanka has withheld the results of nearly 500 students who allegedly have cheated at the GCE Ordinary Level examination in 2008.
Anura Edirisinghe, Commissioner General of Examinations said that his department has already commenced the investigations over those students.
According to the Commissioner those students would be prohibited from sitting for examinations for life, if they found guilty.
The results of the 2008 new syllabus examination were released yesterday and the results could be obtained from the Examination Department official web site "www.doenets.lk".
Results of the schools in Colombo and Sri Jayewardenepura educational zones were handed over to the respective principles while outstation results have been mailed.
