Apr 30, Ambilipitiya: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today said that the only remaining option for Tamil Tigers is to lay down arms and surrender to the forces within next four or five days.
Addressing the Walawe development project at Ambilipitiya this morning President Mahinda Rajapaksa stressed that he would not go for any ceasefire with the LTTE.
"I don't need to go for any ceasefire and I have no time to spend for this kind of unnecessary activities," he said.
President Rajapaksa repeatedly urged the Tamil Tigers to free the civilians who are still trapped in rebel held areas with fear.
President stressed that he has more ache over the country and its people rather than dealing with visiting foreigners who need a ceasefire at the moment.
He said with the latest satellite images the world can see how the LTTE uses tanks to fire at the Tamil people fleeing from them and how the security forces carrying the civilians to safety.
"The world must see and know all this. That is why we call this a humanitarian operation," he said.
"This is not how wars are fought in other countries. We have seen how Iraq was bombed. We have seen how Afghanistan is bombed. It must be made clear that before accusing others, you must have the strength to know what you do yourself," President remarked.
Finally he reminded in the past that several leaders in Sri Lanka as well as India had to bid farewell to their lives due to the activities of LTTE.
