No Pork from Mexico and Europe, says Sri Lanka

Apr 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka government has decided to immediately ban the imports of pork from Mexico and European countries.
The Director of the Animal Production and Health Department Dr. Amarasiri Chandrasoma said they have taken this decision as a precautionary measure of preventing Swine Flu in the country.
The Swine Flu was reported in Mexico and several European countries and this decision will help prevent the disease entering Sri Lanka, Dr. Chandrasoma pointed out.
Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday ordered the Health Ministry to take every possible measure to prevent this disease from entering to Sri Lanka.
Earlier government deployed several specialists at Katunayake International Airport and Colombo Harbour to screen all the outsiders to the country as a precaution.
