Apr 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Buddhist monks today protested against the intervention of United Kingdom in the country's internal problems.
The monks of Buddhist nationalist party, Jathika Hela Urumay staged a peaceful protest campaign against the visit of British foreign secretary David Miliband outside the British High Commission in capital Colombo this afternoon.
The monks have asked the British government to leave Sri Lanka to resolve its internal crisis as the government does not need any international support to overcome the terrorism.
Following the protest campaign the Bhikkus handed over a letter to the British High Commissioner in Colombo proposing their demands.
British Foreign Secretary David Miliband and French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner have arrived in Sri Lanka to address the humanitarian situation in northern Sri Lanka and push for a ceasefire.
