Apr 29, Gampaha: The Attanagalla Magistrate Courts today ordered the police to arrest the parliamentarian Piyasiri Wijenayake along with five other suspects over the killing of a Marxist supporter in Veyangoda recently.
Attanagalla Magistrate I.D.P. Liyanage made this order to Veyangoda police when the case related to the murder of Nandana Balage, a leading supporter of Marxist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna was heard.
He made this order after considering the evidence submitted by four persons who reportedly witnessed MP Wijenayaka shooting the victim at Dadagamuwa in Veyangoda on April 6th.
Nandana Balage was shot dead by an armed group when he was travelling to Kandy after taking part in a JVP propaganda campaign for the recently concluded WPC polls.
MP Piyasiri Wijenayaka was a former member of the JVP but later he joined the breakaway Marxist party, National Freedom Alliance led by Wimal Weerawansa.
