* Sri Lanka schools to collect relief items for IDPs

Apr 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Ministry of Education is to launch an island wide program to collect relief items needed for the thousands of Internally Displaced Persons sheltered in the welfare camps in Northern Sri Lanka.

A Ministry spokesman said today that the Education Ministry request all the Principals, teachers and students of all the schools in the country to collect items needed for the relief of IDPs.

These items to be collected include fresh bottled milk, bottled drinking water, dry rations, food items (biscuits), new clothes and other sanitary items.

Donors can handover their donations to special counter established at the BMICH Colombo.
