* Sweden recalls its ambassador to Sri Lanka
Tuesday, April 28, 2009, 14:47 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 28, Colombo: Sweden has recalled its ambassador to Sri Lanka for consultations after the Sri Lankan government has refused the Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt entry to participate in a joint mission with his French and British counterparts.

Bildt told reporters in Luxembourg at the European Union Foreign Ministers meeting Tuesday that Sri Lanka's decision was not good for the relations between the two countries.

The Swedish Minister described Sri Lanka's refusal as "very strange behavior." Sri Lanka has not offered any reason for the decision but said that Bildt was invited to visit the country in May at a "mutually convenient time."
