* Libya to grant relief loan of US$ 500 million to Sri Lanka immediately

Apr 25, Colombo: Libyan leader Muammar Gadaffi has informed the Sri Lankan government that immediate steps would be taken to grant the US$ 500 million loan promised during the President Mahinda Rajapaksa's historical visit to Libya earlier this month.

Issuing a press release the Government Information Department announced that the Libyan leader had promised to grant this loan immediately during a special telephone conversation held with President Rajapaksa last night.

This US$ 500 million loan was one of the main successes which President Rajapaksa had during his first and historical state visit to Libya.

The Libyan leader has also praised the steps taken by the government to defeat terrorism in the country completely.

According to the press release issued by the Information Department the Libyan leader believes that the efforts of the President to bring about peace in the country would be fruitful.
