Mobile banking services to Sri Lankan IDPs

Apr 14, Colombo: Bank of Ceylon (BoC), one of the leading state financial institutes in Sri Lanka has commenced a mobile bank service to cater to the internally displaced persons in welfare centers at Vavuniya.
Chairman of the BoC, Dr. Gamini Wickremasinghe told the media that they have taken this decision to provide the banking services to the IDPs without a delay.
Meanwhile BoC has decided to open eight more branches in the North and the East before the end of this year. The BoC hopes to increase the number of new branches to 10 for each province by next year. At present there are 17 branches in each Province.
According to the Chairman new branches will be opened under the Eastern Awakening and 'Uthuru Wasanthaya' (Northern Spring) programs conducted by the government.
