Apr 14, Colombo: The Norwegian government today said that it has not been able to play a mediation role in the Sri Lanka's decades long war since the peace process broke down in 2003.
"We cannot be facilitators in a peace process which has in effect been suspended since 2006," Norwegian special envoy to Sri Lanka Jon Hanssen-Bauer had told a new agency.
The latest statement comes from Norway in response to Sri Lankan government's statement, which said that it is no longer feasible for Norway to act as a facilitator in Sri Lanka's peace process in the current context following the failure of Norway to protect Sri Lankan Embassy in Oslo from the LTTE supporters.
