Apr 01, Colombo: President Mahinda Rajapaksa today handed over a cheque for Rs. 1 Million from Sri Lanka Telecom for sponsorship of the Havelock Sports Club, Colombo, in the current Rugby Season.

President Rajapaksa said he was happy to participate in this sponsorship event as the Havelock Sports Club established in 1915 is the oldest Rugby Club for Sri Lankans and because of the encouragement the club gave to new talent to take to Rugby, building good team spirit and sportsmanship. He appreciated the efforts of Sri Lanka Telecom to foster sports in the country of which this sponsorship is one more example. Sri Lanka Telecom Chairperson Ms. Leisha De Silva Chandrasena, CEO of Mobitel Suren J Amarasekera, Priyantha Grero, General Secretary of Havelock Sports Club Ruben Thananayagam, Mrs. D. G. V. S. Ratnayake of SLT and Anil Wijenayake, Lionel Almeida and Hafiz Marikkar of Havelock Sports Club participated in the event.
