Sept 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) announced that the State of Kuwait has granted a six week amnesty period for illegal migrants residing in the country to leave the land.
Sources said that several thousands of Sri Lankans are either overstaying or illegally residing in Kuwait.
The illegal residents can leave Kuwait without being punished within the amnesty period that started yesterday and lasts until October 15.
Sri Lankan migrants overstaying in Kuwait are advised by the SLBFE to contact the Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait to obtain necessary documentation for the return.
