Sept 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police Department commemorates its 142nd anniversary today with religious observations, blood donation campaigns and provision of assistance to the distressed officials island wide.
A special offering to the Sacred Bo tree will be held under the patronage of Inspector General of Police Jayantha Wickramarathna today in Sambodhi Vihara Buddhist temple in Colombo. Religious observations will be held in Sivam Hindu Temple and Davatagaha Mosque as well.
Police Department sources say that religious and welfare activities have been organized by almost all the police stations in the country to mark the anniversary.
