Sept 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka Minister of Trade, Marketing Development and Consumer Services Bandula Gunawardena says that the government is providing a duty concession of Rs. 86 per kilo to the milk powder importers to regulate the prices in local markets.
The Minister says the state levies only five rupees per each kilo of imported milk powder, pointing out that the prices in local markets were stable for the last 11 months.
The state has imposed a price control for milk powder and the maximum price of a 400 g milk powder packet is Rs. 275. But some companies sell their products below that price competitively.
