Sept 30, Kandy: Sri Lankan Police department has decided to deploy additional security to all the drinking water projects in Matale district with immediate effect.

Senior Superintendent of the Police in the area, Mackathy Perera said that this decision was taken after a false rumor of pipe borne water being poisoned in Matale district spread around the town.

“We have decided to deploy police security to the drinking water projects 24 hours day,” SSP Perera added.

Sri Lankan Water Board stressed that the fears by residents in Kandy and Matale was rumor and no need to panic.
