* Supreme Court of Sri Lanka criticize the role of CID Director

Sept 29, Colombo: Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva today criticized the conduct of Director of the Criminal Investigations Department which comes under the purview of the Sri Lanka Police Department.

Chief Justice referring to a Fundamental Rights violation petition filed by Vasudeva Nanayakkara and Nihal J. Amarasekara stated that when Supreme Court orders removal of a state official for his corruptive behavior and conduct against the public right, CID should take action.

“Failing to do so, the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department should vacate his post,” stated the Chief Justice.
