Sept 29, Colombo: Sri Lankan government has decided to deliver 60 truckloads of essential food items to the Wanni region with immediate effect.

Minister of Human Rights and Disaster Management Mahinda Samarasinghe said that these food items are scheduled to be handed over to the government agents of the respective districts in Wanni within this week.

In addition to the food items government hopes to deliver sanitary items and medicines also to the Vanni.

Minister further said that these essential items will be stored in three different places in the region.
