* Minor explosion in Sri Lankan capital

Sept 29, Colombo: A bomb placed in a parked vehicle exploded this afternoon in a crowded place in the Sri Lankan capital.

Five people were injured and seven vehicles were damaged in the blast that took place at Pettah area in the capital.

Assistant Superintendent of Police in the area, Premalal Ranagala said a bomb hidden inside a van parked in a parking area exploded. Police suspect the LTTE Tigers behind the incident.

According to the sources three cars, three vans, a lorry and a motorcycle have been damaged due to the blast.

Colombo National hospital sources said that the injuries are not in life threatening.
