Sept 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka military said that at least one fisherman was injured when the LTTE Tigers opened fire at a flotilla of fishing boats that went to sea from the Gurunagar jetty in Jaffna yesterday.
“Fishermen were engaged in their daily catching some kilometers away from the jetty when terrorists fired at them from Poonaryn area, according to one fisherman who escaped unharmed,” the Army said.
One fisherman in one of the boats sustained severe injuries in his neck due to LTTE fire. However, others managed to return to the jetty with the injured person, it said.
