Sept 02, Colombo: Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi will visit Sri Lanka from Sept. 7 to 10, at the invitation of Sri Lanka Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to sources, it will be Yang's first visit to Sri Lanka since taking office in April 2007. During his stay he will hold talks with his counterpart Rohitha Bogollagama and meet other Sri Lankan leaders.
Referring to the Sino-Sri Lanka relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the two countries were traditional and friendly neighbors and bilateral ties had continually progressed since the forging of diplomatic ties, featuring with the frequent high-level visits, it added.
"China is ready to work with Sri Lanka to continue pushing forward the neighborly cooperation, in a bid to further promote the bilateral comprehensive and cooperative partnership," it added.
Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi will also visit India on the same tour.
