Oct 09, Colombo: Government of Sri Lanka has appointed Suresh Amarasekara as the new Chief Executive Officer and the General Manager of the state-owned Housing Development Finance Corporation Bank (HDFC).
According to Finance Ministry sources, Amerasekera is a senior banker with nearly 30 years of experience in commercial banking and was previously employed by the State Bank of India, Bank of America, and Citi Bank.
HDFC was established in 1984 and operates through its head office based in Colombo and has 21 branches in the principal cities of 18 districts of Sri Lanka. Since 2003 the bank has recorded a substantial growth. HDFC is a quoted company in the Colombo Stock Exchange.
