Oct 09, Colombo: Former Secretary of Sri Lanka Ministry of Finance Dr. P.B. Jayasundara informed the Supreme Court yesterday that he no longer holds any position of a public or statutory board.
Supreme Court ordered P.B. Jayasundara to appear personally and reveal if he is still holding a public service position taking up a motion filed by Mr. Vasudewa Nanayakkara citing that Jayasundara is remaining in the public service ignoring the court order that amounted to contempt of court.
Supreme Court sentenced Jayasundara to pay damages for causing a loss to the state when a land belonged to Ports Authority was sold to a private company. He was also disqualified from holding any public office. However, his resignation was submitted only after the motion of Mr. Vasudewa Nanayakkara was filed.
Dr. Jayasundara apologized before the Supreme Court through his counsel Faiz Mustafa if he had committed any inconvenience by his stay in the office after the Supreme Court ruling.
