Oct 07, Colombo: Railway service in Sri Lanka is expected to be back to normal today as the locomotive drivers' union that struck work have called off their trade union action.
Minister of Transport Dullas Alahapperuma agreed to appoint a committee of experts to review and report the railway signal system at a three-hour long discussion held yesterday with the trade unions.
The major demand of the unions was to rectify the problems in signal system and give them a guarantee.
The Railway Department interdicted several employees who were considered responsible for the train accident that killed one person and injured many last week at Ganemulla station on the main line.
