Oct 07, Colombo: Some 200 soldiers were killed and 997 others were injured during the month of September in clashes with the Tamil Tiger rebels, Sri Lanka Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka said today in parliament.
According to the Premier, 13 civilians also have been killed and 25 more were injured in the conflicts during September.
A suspected Tiger suicide cadre yesterday targeted officials from the opposition United National Party gathered to open a new office in the northern town of Anuradhapura killing 27 people including a war veteran and a one time High Commissioner to Australia, Major general Janaka Perera.
