* Sri Lanka Railway strike reaches a settlement

Oct 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka Railway strike, started with a faulty signal system leading to an accident of two express trains speeding on the same track, killing one passenger, ended today.

Locomotive Operating Engineers Association and the Railway Guards Association today met the Sri Lanka Transport Minister, Dullas Alahaperuma, and agreed to discontinue the industrial action with Minister promising to appoint a team of investigators to look into the faulty signal system currently used by the Sri Lanka Railway.

With the strike ending few hours back, all train services have started according to the schedule as per the Control Room information.
