* Sri Lanka Police say today's transformer blast an act of terrorism
Sunday, October 5, 2008, 14:56 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 05, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police Department says the last night's transformer blast an act of terrorism, not a technical failure.

According to Police Spokesman, 400 – 500 grams of explosive had been used to blast the electricity transformer located along Ferguson Road in Grandpass, a residential area within the Colombo city limits.

With current financial crisis experienced within the organization, Ceylon Electricity Board is hard pressed to find necessary funds to replace the several electricity transformers blasted this year by terrorists.
