Oct 31, Colombo: Cornel Perera has been appointed as the new Chairman for Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management which was formally known as the Ceylon Hotel School.
Cornel Perera is a senior businessman, founder and Chairman of the Hilton Hotel in Colombo. He was responsible for arranging Air Lanka traffic rights to Saudi Arabia in the late seventies and as the founder and first Chairman and CEO of Milco he was responsible for successfully implementing the World Bank assisted conversion of National Milk Board in to a company structure.
Cornel is a life time member of the Cornell Hotel Society affiliated with the Cornell University in New York.
Most recently Tourism Minister Milinda Moragoda appointed Perera as Chairman of the advisory committee of Colombo City Hotel and he successfully implemented the raise in minimum selling rate for city hotels from the beginning of this year.
