* Lubricant cooler on fire in Colombo power station following rebel air raid in Sri Lanka

Oct 29, Colombo: A lubrication cooler connected to GT7 gas turbine at Kelanithissa power station in Colombo was on fire following an aerial attack conducted by suspected Tamil Tiger rebels in the midnight, a Fire Brigade official said.

However, the lights turned off as a safety measure in the Colombo city has been reconnected now.

Director General of Media Center for National Security, Lakshman Hulugalla said that the security situation in Colombo was now under control following the LTTE aerial attack targeting the Kelanithissa power station. that caused minor damage but no casualties.

A CEB employee has sustained minor injuries and was admitted to the General Hospital at Colombo.

Earlier, an LTTE aircraft has dropped three bombs off target at the Thallady military camp in Mannar. No major damages were caused due to the explosions MCNS said, adding that a soldier has sustained injuries in the incident.

Authorities at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International airport have diverted two passenger plights to Chennai aerodrome until the situation was brought under control.
